1963 Guild A-350 Stratford

Description

The 1963 Guild A-350 Stratford now looks bigger in the videos than it actually is – it has the same dimensions as a Gibson ‘Johnny Smith’, so it’s not as thick as an L-5. I bought it – just as it is – with the mini-humbuckers – I can’t say whether it was actually supplied like that back in 1963 – after all, this model was originally designed as an acoustic archtop. Be that as it may, everything fits together perfectly here – you get a ‘Johnny Smith’ for half the price of a Gibson – without compromising on anything! The guitar was bought from the son of the first owner - and is a piece of living history! A wonderful instrument. The beautiful original tuners (Pics3) were in the case and could be remounted 1:1 without residue (and run absolutely fine), the Grover Stairsteps (Videos 1-4), which have been attached in the meantime, have exactly the same drilling dimensions - and are now in the case - if required... A nice feature about this guitar can be found in GITARRE & BASS, issue 6/2020
