1964 Gibson L-5 CES NT blonde

What a beautiful and proud old lady! The previous owner was legendary German guitarist Sigi Schwab who bought it in the eary 70s and used it for 40 years on lots of recording sessions and live concerts - you can tell by its looks and every note that that comes out of it. Sigi wants to dedicate the remaining years of his lifetime solely to acoustic fingerstyle music, so he decided to sell it. Unlike newer L5s, this one is very light weight and blends airy dynamics with full richness. I did not try to polish it up and rather keep the glorious patina. Since the frets were all worn down, I had it professionally refretted. I also replaced the Schaller tuners that Sigi used on this guitar with nice aged Kluson waffle back tuners - 5 of the original tuners still exist and came included as case candy. Last but not least I found a nice original vintage Gibson case in the US to complete the package - now it is ready for another four decades of great music! (In video5, you can hear Sigi play this guitar live on TV in the mid-70s)
