The guitar originally had a wooden bridge—it looked nice, but it caused the notes to die away when the strings were bended. There was also little sustain in the high registers. This problem has now been solved with a Gibson ABR-1 bridge + rosewood foot. No changes need to be made to the guitar. In both cases, the bridges lays on the body, so they can be exchanged 1:1 (however, string spacing must be correct when notching the ABR saddles). In addition, as is generally the case with wooden bridges that rest on the body, the foot should be secured with double-sided tape, otherwise the bridge tends to slip out of place while bendings—this also applies to Gretsch guitars. With this method, pins and holes in the top are not necessary!
