2010 Gibson Les Paul "Peter Green/G. Moore" Lim. Edition Murphy heavy aged!! Collector's Choice 1

Description

From my personal collection - a true gem, and one of my prized posessions! Since I was 16, I was dreaming of Peter Green's guitar, and when the Reissue came out, I had to have one (I am the first owner, too!) For a long time, this was my No. 2, i.e. my backup guitar for my beloved No. 1, the converted 1968 Goldtop. However, due to the fact that my trusty Goldtop is so reliable, No. 2 actually did not get played that much - and when I noticed that my collegue of RJV Guitars actually sold two of these for € 20,000 each (and more models are offered on eBay with asking prices up to € 25,000), I am ready to let it go. According to my personal taste, I changed a few things around for more traditional looks (turned neck pickup, pickguard installed, four of the same reflector knobs, more authentic pickup covers), but at your request, I can easily change it back to original specs! + + + The Collector's Choice Series from the Gibson Custom Shop recreates singular, legendary and well documented vintage Les Pauls in strictly limited editions. The CC#1 is especially outstanding as the original instrument currently belongs to Metallica lead guitarist Kirk Hammit who bought it from the renowned English collector Melvyn Franks, but it originally was owned by Peter Green who used it on most of his classic Fleetwood Mac recordings, and later by Gary Moore who bought it from Green in the 70s and used it on many famous Thin Lizzy recordings and his Peter Green tribute album "Blues For Greeny". It features a highly figured top, a faded "Unburst Butterscotch" finish and Burstbucker 3 pickups, the neck pickup of course wired out-of-phase for Peter Green's signature, gorgeously nasal "Need Your Love So Bad"-tone! This is an absolutely amazing guitar and my current No. 2! At only 3.8 kgs it is one of the lightest of the strictly limited edition of 125 only. According to my taste, I performed a few cosmetic changes (turning the neck pickup back to its original position, installing four of the same ‘60s style reflector knobs and adding a pickguard) – but the guitar can be restored to its authentic Peter Green look anytime in only a few minutes! Interesting fact about the neck: I had VOS Melvyn Franks / Gary Moore LPs before, and each of which came with a different neck profile. But this is the first Reissue / Historic LP I've come across with the exact dimensions of my original 1959 sunburst I once owned! Fortunately, the back of the neck looks a lot nicer than the Gibson promotion fotos suggest. Also, I replaced the burstbucker pickup covers with super authentic aged DMC covers, which have the proper rounded corners, see Fotos. But first of all, the tone of this guitar is just out of sight!
